Adult Leader Training at Summer Camp

Broad Creek offers a handful of trainings for adult leaders who are interested in honing their skills while at summer camp. These courses are optional and a part of the normal summer camp adult registration.

Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) gives adult leaders the practical knowledge they need to help Scouts to learn outdoor skills. The skills presented closely follow the Boy Scout Handbook and rank advancement requirements. All the skills from Tenderfoot to First Class are covered in this training.

This is a required training course for all Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters. It is also encouraged for anyone who will be participating on campouts regularly to consider taking this class. The training is designed to help all adult leaders regardless of experience level feel comfortable performing and supervising these skills with youth.

Aquatics Supervision

A basic training meant for adult leaders, Aquatics Supervision is a required course that allows adult leaders to provide qualified supervision for their unit as they participate in swimming or boating activities.

Aquatics Supervision is offered for adults regularly as part of Broad Creek’s Scouts BSA Summer Camp, and is available as a standalone course annually in the Summer.
