Council Committees

The Camping Committee is the leadership group that plans and oversees the Baltimore Area Council outdoor program, and collaborates to understand and address the needs of an increasingly diverse youth and adult population.

This committee uses its understanding of the needs of youth to guide outdoor program marketing/promotion, provide recommendations for Broad Creek programs, and collaborate with operational committees to provide relevant, safe, and exciting outdoor programs.

The Properties Committee is charged with maintaining and improving facilities in the council.

This committee assists with work projects, coordinates annual work day events, convenes monthly to review decisions and provide recommendations for Broad Creek property management.

Program Sub-Committees

The Conservation Committee handles matters pertaining to the proper management of its natural and cultural resources through the creation and implementation of a council conservation plan.

It also fosters a conservation ethic among Scouts and Scouters by providing support and counsel to and through the following ways: conservation awards, trail management, forestry and timber harvest, soils and geology, advising summer camp con-ec programming, and organization of conservation service workdays.

The COPE & Climbing Committee is responsible for  the overall COPE & Climbing program in the council. Typically composed of Level I, Level II, and Directors for COPE & Climbing, or those with equivalent experience through other organizations.

This committee provides recommendations for relevant equipment/facility upgrades, training for COPE/Climbing certifications, and support for programs needing qualified instructors for COPE or Climbing activities.

The purpose of the Local High Adventure committee, sub-committee of the Baltimore Area Council High Adventure Committee, is to cultivate a community of advanced recreationists within the Baltimore Area Council by offering advanced outdoor programs at the council level in or around Central Maryland.

This committee will provide use their understanding of the needs of youth to provide recommendations for advanced adventure programming at Broad Creek, manage council-wide resources for local high adventure, and collaborate to provide advanced outdoor programs at the council level.

The Shooting Sports Committee is responsible for  the overall Shooting Sports programs in the council. Typically composed of range operation experts, certified through the National Rifle Association, US Archery Association, and other equivalent organizations.

This committee provides recommendations for relevant equipment/facility upgrades, NRA and USAA training, and support for programs needing qualified instructors Shooting Sports activities.
